A gentle light filtered through the windows of his living room and Morin drearily lifted a sore neck off the arm of his couch. He smacked his lips together and wiped the side of his mouth while looking around the room, for a second forgetting why he had fallen asleep on the couch in the first place. He quickly remembered and sat up properly on the couch, his back aching as he straightened it. After making sure he had not caused any permanent damage to his spine, he got up and made some toast to eat as an early breakfast.

It was seven o’clock in the morning; the sun beamed in through the windows and he was once again looking at the strange red marks that had appeared the night before in the mirror. He gently pushed down on them with his fingers – he felt pain, but not as much as before. Whatever had happened, the marks were healing, so Morin didn’t give it another thought.
